IdealData forBigCommerce
Always-on monitoring for your store. What we watch, what we tell you, and what to do when a signal arrives.
You connect once from the BigCommerce App Marketplace. Read-only access through BigCommerce's official API. No theme edits, no code, no developer, no replatforming.
A price typo goes live at 11:40 on a Tuesday night. Someone catches it at 7:15 the next morning. In between, you sold 34 units below cost.
Your bestseller runs out mid-promotion, the promotion you're still paying to run.
A $6,200 cart sits untouched from Friday afternoon. Nobody calls. By Monday it's gone.
What IdealData watches.
Moments like these barely announce themselves. No error, no alarm, just revenue quietly leaking while your store runs normally. Dashboards wait for you to come look. Reports tell you what already happened. IdealData watches your BigCommerce store around the clock and taps you on the shoulder while there's still time to act.
Your catalog prices
Every product and every variant. We're watching for a price that drops sharply or lands at $0: the classic data-entry slip and feed-import disaster, the kind that's live for nine hours before anyone notices.
Your stock levels
And how fast things actually sell. “About to run out” means measured against your real sales pace, not a fixed threshold. That's also what lets the alert tell you how much to reorder and when.
Carts in progress
What they're worth, whose they are, and whether that person has come back.
Your customers and their order history
This is where average order value, lifetime value, and each account's normal ordering rhythm come from. It's what makes an alert say one of your best customers instead of a customer.
Your sales seasonality
Know your peak seasons per SKU and forecast demand with precise accuracy.
Six signals, live now.
Each one arrives with the context to act on it, not a flag you have to go research.
A high-value cart is abandoned
A cart worth well above that customer's own typical order goes quiet. The alert carries the cart value, the multiple of your average order, and whether they've returned since. What to do: call. A $6,000 cart at 2.4× your average deserves a person, not a recovery email at the 24-hour mark.
One of your best customers walks away
A top lifetime-value account abandons a cart, at any size. What to do: treat it as a signal about the relationship, not the cart. When your best buyers hesitate, something is usually wrong.
A customer is on your site right now
A known customer is browsing, with their order history and forecast alongside, including when they were expected to order next. What to do: this is the highest-intent moment you'll get with that account. Reach out while they're still in the tab.
A customer is overdue to reorder
An account that reliably orders every few weeks has gone past its own pattern. What to do: call them. The alert brings the account, how late it is, and the full purchase history. The call writes itself.
A product is about to run out
Based on how fast it's actually selling and how long it takes you to restock. The alert includes the reorder quantity and timing. What to do: place the order, or pull the product from active campaigns before you pay for more traffic to a page that can't convert.
A price looks wrong
A catalog price that dropped sharply or hit $0, on any product or variant. What to do: fix it now, while it's still a mistake instead of an order you have to honor.
New signals ship regularly, and you decide which ones are on. Nothing fires until you turn it on.
See the volume controlsWhich signals matter most for your store.
You don't need all six on to get value. Start with the two or three that match how your store actually makes money.
High order value, considered purchases
Start with: high-value cart abandoned, best customer walks away, customer on site now. With few orders and real money in each, recovering one cart can cover the year.
Wholesale, Distributors & B2B
Start with: overdue to reorder, customer on site now, best customer walks away. One account quietly drifting matters more than a hundred abandoned consumer carts, and it's invisible until you look for it.
Large catalog
Start with: price looks wrong, product about to run out. Nobody audits thousands of SKUs by hand. These two are the ones that pay for continuous monitoring at that size.
Small catalog, direct to consumer
Start with: high-value cart abandoned, price looks wrong. Simple store, simple failure modes. The expensive ones are a good cart walking and a bad price going live.
How alerts reach you.
Alerts arrive in Slack, Microsoft Teams, or in-app, wherever your team already works. Each one carries what happened, what it's worth, who it involves, and what we'd suggest doing.
Where alerts land Per signal
Read-only access through BigCommerce's official API. No full payment card numbers. Nothing is ever written back to your store.
And how to keep them quiet.
An alerting tool that cries wolf gets muted, so the volume controls matter as much as the alerts.
Every signal is individually on or off
Nothing fires until you turn it on. Start with two or three, leave the rest off, and switch one on when you want it. Turning a signal off stops it everywhere at once and changes nothing about how the others behave.
Thresholds are relative to your store, and to the customer
Not to industry averages. “High value” means high for that buyer, which is why a $400 cart from a $150-average customer can matter more than a $2,000 cart from an account that orders at that level every month.
Route each signal to the people who act on it
Stock alerts to ops, cart and customer alerts to sales, pricing to whoever owns the catalog.
Five steps, most of them yours to skip later.
Install the app
Install from the BigCommerce App Marketplace and approve read-only access. About a minute.
We load your history
All orders, customers, and catalog, so your alerts are calibrated against your real baseline from day one instead of after a month of learning.
Confirm your VIPs
Lifetime value is computed for you; adjust the threshold or flag accounts by hand.
Turn on two or three signals
Pick them from the list above. Add the rest once you trust the first ones.
Connect Slack or Teams
Route each signal to the right people.
Questions worth answering.
Does it work if I have more than one storefront? +
In short, Yes.
What does IdealData know about an individual customer? +
Their order history with you, and what we compute from it: average order value, lifetime value, and their normal ordering rhythm. That's what makes "one of your best customers" possible on a cart alert. We don't buy or append outside data about your customers, and we never contact them.
How fast is "real time"? +
Most signals reach you within seconds of the event (eg. abandoned carts). A few are evaluated on a schedule instead: the ones that only mean something across a window, like an account drifting past its reorder rhythm. Every alert carries its own timestamp, so you always know how fresh it is.
Do I need a developer? +
No. Installing is an app authorization, not an integration project. Nothing is added to your theme and nothing changes on your storefront.
Will it slow my store down? +
No. IdealData reads through BigCommerce's API from our side. There's no script on your storefront and no effect on page speed.
Is my data mine? +
Yes. Read-only access you control, never shared or sold, and removable on request at any time.
Question we haven't answered here? +
Use the support chat on our app page in your BigCommerce store and we will be more than happy to help. We usually respond within minutes during the business hours.
